Well it’s been two years since I’ve produced a new painting. I had a need to pursue other personal interests and my art had to take a back seat. I’m happy that at the end of 2012 I was able to return to produce a new piece, which was a delight to me.

I’ve had a desire to paint angels of late, although it has less to do with any particular religion and more that I like the idea of a divine being with wings.

The painting was done in Photoshop one brush stroke at a time. As always I hope that you find some enjoyment from the painting.

May your inner divinity strengthen and empower you when you need it the most.

Great color choices for her skin, she looks real.

Thank you! I may go back at some point and see if I can augment her skin a bit. I think I might be able to do some fun stuff with the shadow portions that will make them look more interesting.

Beautifully done. I can't imagine painting in Photoshop, but you make it look amazing.

Thank you. Working virtually can really be frustrating at times. Over the years I've built up a tolerance for it.

Her skin looks amazing. There's something about the tone that really makes this piece! Beautiful job :)

I'm glad that you enjoyed the painting. Thanks for taking the time to express your thoughts! The composition could have gone the route that you described. I had considered painting the dress/wings more of a red color, but ended up going with colors for the dress/wings that were more closely related to the background color. My thinking at the time was that by having the skin color in the red range, it would dominate the image, whereas if I had chosen a more red color for the wings/dress it would have created less dominance of that color (red) within the image. Neither way is wrong, in my opinion, just a preference.

In addition I'm constantly trying to grow, experiment, etc. So perhaps in the future when making a similar decision I will go a different route...only time will tell. My biggest hurdle to this is that I can not produce art fast enough to get through all the permutations (different compositional schemes, color schemes, etc) as I have a full time job and other interests which take a higher priority to my art. Even though I absolutely love painting.
